“Ivy in Bloom” by Vanita Oelschlager is a beautiful book of waiting for Spring during the Winter and then enjoying the wonderful weather once it arrives.

The unique thing about this children’s picture book is that Ms. Oelschlager utilizes classic works of poetry pieced together into a cohesive story. If you didn’t read the final two pages of the book, you might not even realize it. The book has a beautiful message that is inspiring for young people to read books and poetry more and more.

Some of the featured poets interwoven into this children’s story include: Henry Wadsworth Longfellow, Charles Dickens, William Cullen Bryant, John Greenleaf Whittier, E.E. Cummings, Chris Morley, Walt Whitman, Edna St. Vincent Millay, Robert Frost, A.A. Milne and Robert Browning. Excerpts from the famous poetry she pulled the words from are included at the end of the book too, to see the text in its original context.

What a lovely treasure!

I received this eBook free of charge from VanitaBooks, LLC via NetGalley in exchange for a fair and honest review. I did not receive any fiscal compensation from either company for this review and the opinions expressed herein are entirely my own.
