Looking for some inspiration in Denver this weekend? Are you strapped for cash?

General admission to the Denver Art Museum (DAM) is free on the first Saturday of the month (October 5th) for all Colorado residents thanks to local Toyota stores and the citizens who support the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District (SCFD).

Children and students (with student ID) are always free at the Denver Art Museum, so even on a day it isn’t free, getting the kids in for free really cuts down on the expense to see some priceless works of art and get out of the house.

The hours of operation at the DAM on Saturday are from 10 am until 5 pm. My favorite place to park is across the street from the museum at the Cultural Center Complex Garage. There are always lots of open spots and the price is reasonable. The location is great too. It is right in the heart of several Denver museums such as the DAM, the Clyfford Still Museum, the Byers-Evans House, and the History Colorado Center. This parking spot is also just a couple blocks from Civic Center Park and the Colorado State Capitol building.

Cultural Center Complex Garage address: 65 W 12 Ave, Denver, CO 80204

The Denver Art Museum address: 100 W 14th Avenue Pkwy, Denver, CO 80204

This weekend as it happens, you can also stroll to the other side of Denver to LoDo (near Coors Field) to go see some completely different art at the Museum of Contemporary Art Denver for just a penny! Check out the deets on that here!

I plan to grab my sketchpad and pencil and head down there today!
